Energy saving tips for Winter and Summer

Did you know there are lots of ways to save energy and money in both summer and winter? Enigin gives some excellent tips here. Such simple tips as draft proofing windows in winter and checking air conditioners in the Summer are a few of the great and easy tips on offer.
One would think some of these tips are basic when one reads them. However, it’s surprising just how many of us don’t actually act on them. Actions such as turning air conditioners off when not needed, for example if some rooms in a large house (or even a small flat for that matter) are empty, why have the air conditioning on in those rooms?
Also what about keeping in mind what time there will actually be people in the home to benefit form the air condioning. If even with the households differing schedules there are hours at a time no one is home surely it makes senses to adjust the air conditioner settings to be off at these times? After all what benfit is there in air conditioning an empty home?
In the Winter instead of turning the heating up too high which isn’t the healthiest of options as the dry central heating can dry out hair and skin and make the atmosphere quite stuffy, maybe its better to layer up with extra sweaters. Just how many of us have dressed as though its summer in the house because we know we can put the heating on. Surely its better to get some fresher air in the winter by not relying on the heating. Better to have some cosy slippers and hot cocoa!
