Thanks A Million Gok!

Oh, back in the day, being a Costumier was grim, I tell thee. We were lumped in the same mental-box as wig makers and men in long coats who can’t help but flash passerby. It was tough for a while, but then, out of nowhere or so it seemed to me, Gok Wan came out and fixed all that. And ever since then, I have felt so much more proud of what I do. Thanks Gok!

The only bad thing about Gok’s shows is, of course, that thanks to him ANYONE can make things out of almost nothing. Not the best for me! But still, I don’t let it get me down. And anyway, the kind of complex stuff is something you can only learn through hard work anyway, so I’m not feeling too threatened just yet.

At least…I don’t think I am.

Another cool thing about Gok is the confidence he has inspired in people not only from the UK, but across the world. Because of this, larger men and women who used to be very self-conscious are now getting braver and coming to me for fashion help; instead of me having to pay out for advertising which can get very expensive. This means more business, and it means I can pay my bills better. Much more fun than working for red diesel Wakefield or the Post Office if you ask me! Which is good, because I don’t fancy the idea of wandering around posting letters through doors and having my fingers nipped at by angry sounding dogs…
